Digital Continues It's Inexorable March To Victory Over The Print Media

Gun magazine publisher, Harris Publications, abruptly announced to its staff several days ago that it was closing down effective April 29, 2016. This move will eliminate over a dozen shooting and firearms related periodicals and annuals.
Among the magazines shuttered:

Combat Handguns,
Guns & Weapons for Law Enforcement,
Pocket Pistols,
Survivor’s Edge,
Tactical Weapons, and
Special Weapons for Military & Police.

In business for just about 40 years, the advent of internet based media has finally made it too difficult to turn a reasonable profit. Now I have to admit myself that I pretty much stopped buying gun related mags a few years back, but being an old geezer I feel a nostalgic loss of something that was part of my normal life for decades.

The links below are for articles with few some more specifics.

Politically Incorrect In The Age Of Terror, But....

Still, German Engineering at it's finest.

How Much Does It Cost For A NYC Concealed Carry Permit

Apparently $18,000.

$12,000 for the middleman while the other $6,000 worth of bribes gets divided among the three corrupt cops in the Licensing Division who then approve and expedite the License requests. The three cops involved have already been demoted and had their shields and weapons taken away.
The middleman has been arrested and charged with bribing those three officers (and by the way, we are not talking about patrolmen level officers here) and is currently out on bail.

To modify an old saying here, we must also add potential injury to insult as it would seem that one of the recipients of these "expedited' carry permits has had four (4) domestic abuse charges filed against him and had previously been arrested for forgery.

The above bribery scam has, over the last several years, resulted in the issuance of 150 "expedited" carry licenses. That comes out to a whopping $900,000 split between the three cops, and $1.8 MILLION for the middleman.

Oh yeah, just trust the government, they're here to help.........

Well, There Appears To Be At least One Bright Spot In The American Economy

And it even seems to be in spite of the goverments best efforts. Apparently the firearms industry in America added an additional 25,000 jobs to the economy at at an average wage of just over $50,000 per employee.

And people are crowing about a $15.00 minimum wage.

April 2016 Combatives Seminar at The Dungeon

The latest seminar is now in the Close Combat history books. 10 attendees from parts various and sundry were there. Guys came in from out of state and I'd like to thank everybody who came down. Pennsylvania, Vermont, Massachusetts, and several other states were represented. I'd like to thank Art for flying in and a special thanks goes out to Kurt for driving up all the way from Florida!
Thank you Gabe, Jim, Gilbert, Kurt, Art, Ben, Robert, Hal, Mike, Alan, and even my son for showing up and putting in the time.
The first day was a review of some of our core material with the addition of a couple of techniques that we haven't done in quite awhile such as developing power with the vertical EOH, and the double hand Chin Jab.
The second day of the edged weapons defense went well until Clint pulled a hamstring trying to do the 'Lightning-Like' kick that Fairbairn used to talk about.

OUCH!

After that, seeing as how the defensive knifework was pretty much covered anyway, Clint wisely decided to transition to showing some groundwork that didn't require much standing.

There was also an unfortunate miscommunication that resulted in Ralph not making it to the Seminar. In spite of those two problems we managed to get it done and I hope everybody who attended was able to leave with something useful to them.
Again my thanks to everyone who attended.

Another Small Victory, But A Victory Nonetheless

The last handgun ban in the USA has now been struck down by the Federal courts. Most people don't actually think of The Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands as part of the USA, but apparently the US District Court does.

It may not seem like much, but wars are won based on the outcome of smaller battles.

More Fun With Drones In Oklahoma

So apparently a contractor was using drone to examine the roof gutters of a house he had been hired to work on, when a neighbor thought it was spying on her home.

So she shot it down (I'm guessing with a shotgun)

http://okcfox.com/news/local/legal-drone-shot-down-in-edmond-neighborhood

At this time the County Sherrif's dept. is not considering charges. It is of note however that this entertaining incident occurred while a bill is working it's way through the State Legislature that would allow Oklahoma residents to shoot down unauthorized drones over their property without facing any civil liability.
