The Gunslingers Gait

The article in the link below was brought to my attention by an old friend of mine that I haven't seen since the Kean University Combatives Seminars almost 20 years ago. It's an interesting study of Vladimir Putin and several other top Russian leaders.  Apparently for years a lot of people believed that Putin had some sort of physical disability with his right arm. Most prominently when he walked, the limited range of motion set off rumors of a laundry list worth of reasons.

However the problem was that the dysfunction was glaringly missing any other time he was engaged in physical movement that involved the suspect right arm. The most obvious case being during any video of him engaging in Judo.

The authors of the article have now come up with another explanation which is highly probable. The habit of the limited swing, the arm kept close to his side, the way he walks, etc. They believe it is a carry-over habit ingrained from his days of military counter-intelligence work along with his KGB training. To be specific, the carrying of a concealed weapon.

You can go online and search for "How to spot A Concealed Gun" and several articles and illustrations of the 'Tells" will come up and easily match Putin's physical carriage.

The reduced arm swing, arm kept close to the body, etc. , are all right in line with the "Tells" here in the U.S. that somebody is carrying a concealed weapon. Cops (plainclothes and Off Duty) and licensed gun owners don't worry about the weapon printing, or an open jacket moving away from covering the gun the way a criminal does.

And even if these guys (Putin, Medved, etc.) haven't had to carry their own weapon for personal protection anymore, years of habit, compounded of doing it in stressful environments for years, are hard to break.

Anyway, read the article for yourself, and be sure to pay close attention to the videos.
