OPEC, Shale, And The Kingdom Gets Nervous

It's news to me that last year the USA imported the lowest amount of foreign oil in 15 years.

Apparently some people in Saudi Arabia did notice. Exploitation of shale (oil and gas) is looking amazingly like the future for US energy, whether or not OPEC, or our domestic green party like it or not.

Predictions are that by 2030, The USA will be a net exporter of Gas from Shale as a result of improvements in technology.

It's Official, Detroit's In The Toilet

The special administrator appointed by the Governor a couple of months ago has decided to have the city file for Chapyer 9 Bankruptcy. Several courts have to decide whether or not Detroit qualifies to file for Chap. 9, but it's pretty much a foregone conclusion.

The amazing part is that some of the lunkhead politicians that helped run Detroit into the ground are running around screaming about "the fix is in" "their numbers ain't right" and assorted other race-related clap-trap.
