The Downward Spiral Of Detroit Continues
For anybody who has been reading this blog for any length of time, you know that I have been following the horror story that has become the City of Detroit for some months now. It appears that the State of Michigan is about to name a Financial Manager for the city.
As you also might expect, the crooks and assholes that have through theft, corruption, stupidity and incompetence helped bring what was once a major American city to it's knees, have begun running their mouths and screaming about this is unfair. It's not the American way, it's 'Dictatorship', it's racist!!!
Big surprise huh?
For the past 2 or three years they have worked out deals with the state to allow for some outside control and assistance, but the ingrained greed and arrogance of the elected officials have have prevented any meaningful change.
The fact is that after the decline of the American auto and steel industries, which essentially drove the economic engine of the region for so long, began in the late 70's and early 80's, Detroit has been on a downward spiral. Even the State doesn't know if this financial takeover of the City's finances will prevent the continued slow death, but the one thing that is certain is that all the half measures so far have not worked to date.
Let's see what happens.
