There is a Law firm in NYS that has a offers a prepaid legal service if you are involved in self defense situation involving a firearm. It's essentially a Retainer that covers a great many aspects of your defense. This not one of those Legal Insurance policies that are offered by other organizations. Those types of services have been outlawed in NYS, and painted negatively by the current NY State Attorney General as "insurance to commit murder".
Anyway, the first link goes to an artticle at a Legal Blog that breaks down the effect each of these laws will or will not have on NYS firearms owners. And it's done in plain English, not in convoluted legal-speak.
PART 2;
One of the new laws requires Micro-stamping on all Semi-Auto handguns and rifles. That's what you read or hear in the mainstream news whether print, online or on TV. It's amazing how they leave out the fact that this new law only goes into effect 4 years after Mico-Stamping become technologically viable and commercially available.
Translation, after close to 15 years, Micro-stamping still doesn't work, and probably never will.
Not that bothers a bunch of politicians who need to look good in an election year.
