First things first, my full respect to Kendrick Castillo, the 18 year old student who gave his life to help stop the shooter. Cut down far too young, this young man is the kind that this country needs more of in these dangerous times.
Now, as for the articles I mentioned in the header.
Number one, my hat's off to the kids who walked out when a bunch of self-serving politicians tried to turn a prayer vigil and memorial gathering for Mr. Castillo into a political sound-byte and photo-op to advance their political careers.

Number two, some schools are finally getting the message that Locking students down in rooms where they become fish in a barrel is not the best way to handle an active shooter situation. While 'Run, Hide, Fight' may not in itself be the best alternative, the talk now about motivating teachers and older students to fight back sooner rather than later is something that's long overdue.

It's time that those students and teachers who are willing to fight back in these situations get their due instead of being relegated to second class status in order to continue pushing a gun control agenda that will do little or nothing to alleviate the problem.
