Firearms Homicide Statistics
First of all, I keep hearing "30,0000 people were killed with guns last year in this country".
Really?
Hmm. First of all the numbers for Firearms Related Homicides in the U.S. are issued in the FBI Uniform Crime Report, which is compiled from the period 2 years before the date of issue. So the most up to date numbers currently available are from 2010.
So that would be lie No. 1.
Next, the actual number of firearms related homicides (excluding felons shot by police, and felons shot by legally armed citizens acting within the parameters of the law) for 2010 was 12,996. NOT 30,000.
And that would be lie No. 2.
And people wonder why I have little use for people who talk about gun control.
Here's the link to the FACTS as I have stated them.

Time To BAN These Deathtraps!!
Over 600 killed in 2009, and another 51,000 injured. Where are Feinstein and Schumer when you need them??!!!
If banning bicycles saves just ONE life, we need to do SOMETHING!!!

A Little Gun Control History
Fact, not opinion.
http://rense.com/general95/gun-history.html
A Little Gun History
A LITTLE STORY
In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control.
From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.
You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.
Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.
Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late.
The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.
With guns, we are 'citizens'. Without them, we are 'subjects'.
During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED.
If you value your freedom, please spread this antigun-control message to all of your friends.

Some Facts About Facebook
Before I found the article that I took these points from, I was already considering bailing on FB. At this point, I think I'm going to be gone by 2013.
My opinion of "social media" has now dropped to an all-time low.
Your Mileage May Vary.
A company that has made billions by gathering people's personal information and using it to sell ads;
A company whose original privacy statement was a simple sentence but now is longer than the U.S. Constitution and requires a law degree to understand;
A company that has continually pushed people to "share" more of their private information in order to use Facebook;
A company that just four days ago was criticized by the Electronic Frontier Foundation for yet another creepy experiment that would let people pay money to send mail to your inbox, which is just the latest in a long line of criticisms brought by the EFF;
A company that once claimed it wasn't tracking users when they were logged off, only to turn around and admit that it was, just before someone reported that Facebook in fact had applied for and received a patent on technology that would do exactly that;
A company that once got caught trying to run a clumsy covert smear campaign against Google;
A company that once settled claims brought by the FTC that charged Facebook had deceived consumers and violated federal law;
A company that ran a scuzzy IPO marred by allegations of self-dealing, one in which insiders got info about weak revenues and backed away from the deal even as Facebook was touting the stock to suckers, raising both the price of the shares and the number of shares for sale;
A company that has since been the subject of an investigation by the state of Massachusetts. which led to fines levied against its bankers and fears that authorities "will throw the book at Facebook" in 2013 and that "the real liability to Facebook and Morgan Stanley is yet to come";
A company whose Instagram subsidiary recently caused outrage by changing its terms of service but then walked those changes back.

What A Citizen Can Do With A Drone
This is a YouTube video that gives a representation of the previous article.
Doesn't this just give you hope for the future? (Yes, that was sarcasm)
I've been watching the whole Drone thing evolve and expand over the last few years. Once the military started using them on a regular basis 10 yrs or so ago I wondered how long it would be before usage started by Law Enforcement. They're already getting rulings from judges that it's OK to fly these things over peoples property without warrants. Then after going to some of these techie websites and seeing what they were playing with, I knew that genie was out of the bottle.
The government can go fuck themselves. There is no way to stop people (who have the technical expertise, and believe me, there are plenty of them out there) from building these things and modifying them.
I can't wait for the first time somebody records a couple of cops doing something they're not supposed to. They already go batshit when they see people filming them during stops and interviews, but at least they can stop the filmers or lock them up and take the cameras away. That's not going to happen with these devices.
This is going to be insane, and you know it's only a matter of time until it happens.
Like I say, they're not going to be able to stop people from doing it. Look at those little remote controlled helicopters they sell for as little as $19.99. The parts involved all have other completely legal uses, and you can get them from Radio Shack, eBay, mail order ads from literally hundreds of online tech-oriented websites.
This is going to be real interesting.

More on Drones
One of my favorite topics. Technology marches on, and laws, society and ethics will continue to play catch-up. All this while people debate gun ownership. This little article is great.

Your Government Hard At Work For You
Well they're at it again. Our faithful A.G. Mr Holder now has some new powers that even the Bush administration tried to put through, but public condemnation forced them to back off. So Our current POTUS decides to sign off on it without taking it through congress for a vote. But of course is anyone screaming about it?

Article On NYPD Firearms Training
Interesting read. Primarily about practical training vs. cost, time, and manpower availability.
And no, it does not cover point shooting vs aimed fire.

Do We Have Any Snub Fans Around Here?
I remember my father had two handguns for work. A S&W Model 10 4" Heavy Barrel for his service piece, and a Chiefs Special for his back-up and off-duty carry.
I used to love that snub-nose. The world has now become Semi-Auto and Glock centered for the most part these days.
But I miss that damned little 2" barrelled snubbie.

I LOVE this Joke!!
An old man was asked, "At your ripe age, what do you prefer to get - Parkinson's or Alzheimer's?"
The old man answered, "Definitely Parkinson's. Better to spill half an ounce of Scotch, than to forget where you keep the bottle!!"
The old man answered, "Definitely Parkinson's. Better to spill half an ounce of Scotch, than to forget where you keep the bottle!!"
If It Can Happen In Illinois, It Can Happen Anywhere!
Obama, Emmanuel, and the Clintons must be spitting right now!!

Detroit Has Shot It's Load
Once the King of the Steel Belt, home to American Automotive Manufacturing, and the birthplace of the Motown Sound, Detroit is about to have it's life support shut off. This is the largest single collapse of a major American city in the nations history.
I just hope it's not a precursor of what's ahead for the country in general.

George Orwell's 1984 Is Arriving
It's just taking longer than expected, and it's coming in by bits and pieces. As I said a few posts back, if this was happening under Bush, people would be screaming "Fascist" at the top of their lungs.
But we have an "enlightened" administration these days, so of course this is all for our own good......

Drones At Sea
Another little interest of mine, just in case you hadn't noticed from some previous posts. Drone technology is moving forward by leaps and bounds.
Can't wait to find out how the testing winds up going.
